  • CSE effectively accomplished Seminar on “Small Capital Companies Platform”

    Chittagong, 12September 2019:

     

    Chittagong Stock Exchange Ltd. has arranged a seminar on “Small Capital Companies Platform” on Thursday, the 12th September 2019 at 11.00 a.m. at CSE Conference Hall, 1080, Sk.Mujib Road, Agrabad, Chittagong.

     

    Mr. Mohammed Nazrul Islam, Deputy Director of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has presented the keynote paper at the seminar where the scope of deployment for the potential small and medium sized companies in the Bangladesh Capital market using the CSE’s SME platform has been deliberated. The main goal of the seminar was to provide clear perception to those small companies who want to raise their capital through issuing shares instead of borrowing loan from the banks and other sources which are very expensive. It is discussed that Small Capital Companies means a public company limited by shares, of which paid up capital stands from Tk 50 million to below Tk 300 million after raising capital through the Qualified Investor Offer (QIO). Qualified investors are banks, stock dealers, merchant banks, asset management companies, mutual funds, market makers and so on. Small Capital Platform means separate platform in CSE for trading of securities issued by the Small Capital Companies. A small capital company who will be listed in this CSE platform have the opportunity to migrate their company to the main board of CSE when its paid-up capital will be exceeded above Tk 300 million.

     

    Delegation from about sixty potential local companies representing various sectors like IT, Apparels, Agro, Steel, small industries, manufacturing firms. related brokerage firms etc. have attained intense knowledge on the SME listing procedure, regulations and benefits. Enthusiast participation from the trading bodies like Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber and Chittagong Women Chamber has given the seminar an efficacious dimension. Spontaneous idea sharing was evident during the seminar from the participants side which immensely boost the optimism for the imminent SME market in CSE. The CSE Managing Director has expressed a motivated view towards the participants where he said this is just the start and the CSE business & CFD team is ready to provide potential and interested entrepreneurs even door to door assistances for their better perception about the proposed SME market.
